Intralase Lasik – Advanced Procedure for Laser Eye Surgery
Intralase lasik is an advanced laser treatment of eye which is used widely used in market recently. This lasik is also termed as all-laser lasik as well as bladeless Lasik since there is no use of blade in this procedure. In normal LASIK surgery, a hand-held blade also known as microkeratome is used for making the flap on cornea such that the laser could be used below it. In IntraLase surgery, only a femtosecond laser will be used for cutting. When we use this laser, the cutting will be very precise when compared to manual cutting. Any implications or distortions which are caused with manual cutting using blade can be reduced when using this laser. IntraLase is an advanced procedure which might not be available with all clinics and we should check out in the clinic whether it is available or not.
The IntraLase laser will be guided using software during which tiny bubbles will be created on the cornea layer which will have diameter of around 3 microns. The corneal flap will be produced with the perfect depth and diameter which is estimated by surgeon. Just like using microkeratome, a small portion of tissue will not be cut which will be used to cover the fixed cornea after reshaping it.
The benefits of Infralase LASIK when compared to normal LASIK is faster healing and easier recovery, the accuracy in cutting will be very high and the results will be perfect, many patients achieve 20/20 vision after this surgery and better cuts in cornea flaps. Also infralase LASIK is much safer when compared to traditional LASIK since there is no use of hand held blades which can cause damage to our eyes. So, many patients prefer infraLase LASIK rather than traditional LASIK for better vision and safety of their eyes.
